The Promise: The Birth of the Messiah is an animated musical celebration of one of the most pivotal events in all human history, the birth of Jesus Christ. This beautifully crafted musical is a faithful adaptation of the birth narrative from the Gospel of Luke in both story and song. The animated production leverages optical motion technology to blend traditional animation techniques with the performance talents of ballet dancers and dramatic stage actors. The result is a unique and worshipful story experience that will inspire audiences young and old for years to come.
My family had a movie night, ate popcorn, watched The Promise, and then had a discussion about it.
I was very impressed with the singing on The Promise. I felt like I was listening to a professional play with an amazing orchestra and choir in the building, but it was an animated classic DVD! You will not be disappointed with the music or the story. Although it is written for children, my entire family really enjoyed it.
The Promise was a short film- only about 45 minutes- so young and old can enjoy it. Even my ten year old son liked it. We all wished it was a little longer because it was so well done, and since it is not so long, we can watch it a few times and enjoy it just as much. Although the video is a short it covers the romance of Joseph and Mary, the birth of Jesus Christ, the visit from the shepherds, and then Mary singing her baby to sleep so it did cover its purpose. There is room for a sequel, and I am looking forward to it.

10 But the angel said to them, [the shepherds] “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11 Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. 12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
